Friends! Fun this Friday. Let's hang out. - The Life and Thoughts of Zach
Apr. 14th, 2004
01:20 am - Friends! Fun this Friday. Let's hang out.
Hey folks. I have been such a bad LJ person. I haven't read anyones journals in ages. Here's one of the million real life things I've been working on lately. This is a super cheap super awesome folk show with my very favorite local acoustic group. You all should come out and see it. If you can't afford even $5 then you can still get in for less. We've got space and there's no expenses on this show so every dollar you spend supports the band and the IMC. And we get to do BYOB at this event unlike the Channing-Murray events. It'll be comfy and afterwards there's a bar right downstairs to hang loose at. Come, my friends, and hang out!
Oh, here's the biggest news of all that I haven't posted yet. cassiopia lives in Urbana now! She's staying at my place until she gets a job and moves into a co-op. If you come to the show on Friday, I promise you will get to meet her awesome swept-Zach-off-his-feet self.

MJ Walker is writer of hauntingly beautiful songs drawing from old American Roots traditions of bluegrass and blues and mixing them with contemporary folk. She has been playing in town for years solo and with various other musicians and lately she plays with her rhythm section, Fictive Kin. Fictive Kin brings awesome spine-tingling harmonies, mandolin, bass guitar, and percussion to the mix. The band has a very loose and laid back approach to their sound that makes it the perfect porch music. When you listen to Fictive Kin's songs you feel like you are part of a generations old musical family. This is really unique stuff and CU is so lucky to have MJ Walker's tremendous talent right in our backyard.
This show is BYOB if 21+, all ages, and non-smoking. Admission will be on a sliding scale and, space permitting, no one is turned away for inability to pay. All proceedes benefit the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center and the artists.
