How much does Hammel generall charge/expect to make? I've been really wanting to book him but I didn't know if an Ani opener such as himself was too expensive for my small volunteer operated venue or not...

Hamell's fees

As far as Ed goes - it's hard for me to say because we are sort of friends. (I mean, he doesn't invite us to his kids' birthday party, but he does things like get us tickets to shows, so that's why I say "kind of.")He played at Neil's 30th BD party and also at his PhD party few years later and charged us only $500 each time (though we gave him more.) I suspect that he gets much more now that he's taken off, but I'm afraid to ask. Our stuff was for private parties and so I'm sure he took pity on us. He's a great guy so if you emailed him I'm sure he'd talk w/ you about working something out. If you were willing to work w/i his schedule he might be more accomodating.

Mary, on the other hand (her real name is Samantha but she basically goes by Mary now) is a nice person but her management is much less pleasant to deal w/ (I think perhaps as she comes from more of a rock background.) If Neil wasn't such a fan I would probably not have booked her as we wound up paying her $400 for an opening set.

You have TOTALLY gotta get Hammell! Holy hell!

I'm so all over that action.

I've still gotta replace my copy of "Ed's Not Dead".

He's got Ed's not Dead on the website

http://www.hamellontrial.com

And if you don't have the first two albums, he's selling a compilation that Evangeline put together for his European fans. But I guess he's only selling that at shows.

If you love Hamell, you will really get a kick out of the CD from Neil's party. Not only does Ed sound great (I think it is the best performance of The Vines I've ever heard) but he is really relaxed and funny. He does two made-up songs, one all about stealing a rototiller and going nuts all over town (we had the party in a science museum) and one about the sad life of an Elixir string/condom sales rep. And theres a serious song on there I've never heard elsewhere, about the possible death of God.
