09:53 pm - Festival Ends
Just a quick note to let everyone know the festival was a smashing success by every possible measure. We broke even (may have even made some money). We had beautiful weather. No one got hurt. The volunteer staff was incredible. The logistics went off flawlessly. The artists all showed up and ROCKED THE HOUSE. The sound was great. Lots of people were introduced to the area. Local people are completely psyched about making next year's event even more awesome.
We had a number of crises come up but we dealt with them one by one and none of them were show stoppers. It rained a little bit but not enough to chase anyone off or stop anyone from enjoying the music. It was never too cold or too hot. The flies were present but not overwhelming and none of the biting insects were out. Nothing was stolen.
Everywhere I go around town now I see someone who tells me it was a great show. I've gone into a kind of repetitive smile and nod and "thank you" mode.
hecateuse and the_sween and arun251 were particular super rockstars as far as helping to keep me sane by filling in the crucial volunteer gaps. I couldn't have survived the weekend without them.
I have so many stories to tell about the weekend but I am still enjoying this whole being offline thing. I have a LOT of pictures to share and a million beautiful anecdotes. I hope to be leaving for a 2-3 day hiking trip in the Porkies tomorrow but there is a crisis brewing on the homefront that I might have to cancel my camping plans for. We'll see.
I just wanted to let everyone know that it went well! Better than I could have possibly imagined it going. hecateuse and the_sween took me out to have a moment of absorbing the good vibes of the crowd and realizing that it was me that made this happen. I kind of laughed it off but inside of me I was on the edge of completely losing it and just bawling my eyes out. The bigness and goodness of the thing was deeply overwhelming. This is seriously the greatest acheivement of my life, I've never done anything like this before. I'm glad so many of my friends and family were there to help me through it because it would have crushed me without you all.
I am so happy and content with the universe right now. I am so filled with love for humanity. I am at perfect peace.
