RNC Update - The Life and Thoughts of Zach

11:24 am - RNC Update
I just had a lengthy phone interview with the assistant to a lawyer who is working on RNC cases. Things are moving forward! Apparently those of us who were arrested at WTC who had our charges dropped (about 200 people) all have REALLY GOOD cases (duh).
Anyway, there's going to be a hearing for my specific case next week and they're going to have it postponed so I can get a chance to get myself out to New York for it.
Woo.
They are still working on class action suits at both the state AND federal level. This thing is being worked on MANY different fronts and the whole legal system moves very slowly, especially since there's 1200 people who don't all fit into a single class since we were all arrested in several different places for a few different reasons and then processed through the system in a number of different ways.
It'll be years before this is all worked out.
But wait a second.... I thought all of your charges were ACD. So nothing goes on your record after the dismissal perior. They're not calling you back into court for your arrest, are they? Or is this a suit that you're filing against them?
My charges were already dismissed. I don't even have to wait the 6 months. For my group of 200 arrestees, the charges were universally dismissed by a judge about a month after the protest. So the 200 of us really have the strongest case of the entire 1200 people who were arrested that night.
