Zarf on Tour - The Life and Thoughts of Zach
Jan. 23rd, 2005
10:08 pm - Zarf on Tour
So I've got this new work situation where my work is pure telecommuting. I want to take advantage of this by spending as much of the next year as possible couch surfing the country. This means showing up at your house for a week or two and plugging in my laptop and working 30 hours per week (e.g. five 6 hours days or three 10 hour days) and spending the weekends and evenings hanging out. We might have to spread a normal vacation's weekend worth of stuff over the whole week or more that I'm there since I do have to get work done. I'm aware that that's a big imposition, I'll be using your dishes and bathroom and kitchen and crashing on your couch or guest bed. I'll do my share of chores and buy groceries and all that like a good guest. Some people are into this kind of guest and others aren't. That's totally cool. Let me know which you are.
The poll below the cut will help me plan my tour. I've set it so that only I can see the specific results of the poll.
Would you like to receive a visit from me in 2005?
Can I crash at your place when I visit?
How long should I stay?
How will I get online while I am there?
What time of year is best for me to visit you?
Tell me more about your restrictions on time or space.
Tell me more about the kind of stuff we should do when I visit!
Give me your email address and phone number.
Anyway you do have to go to work sometime. Visiting you is FAR better for my jobhealth than visitting grad students who will skip their classes and make me have fun instead of getting work done and then I'll get fired and not be able to travel anymore... :(
And if you come during faire season, and we're doing a faire that weekend, you're welcome to join us for free faire admission (as long as you don't mind working your behind off selling pagan and pirate things)
Other than that there is a lot of hiking to be done and it is possible we could even plan a day trip - or camping to Crator Lake. We keep meaning to do that and have decided that this spring - summer we will definitely do so.
