Whenever I listen to Red Clay Halo I want to go out and roll around in some red clay mud and go dancing with Gillian Welch.

zarfmouse, folkyboy and I were talking about how much we love you last night. We just think you rock! We want to marry you, in a totally platonic kind of strange way.

Woo platonic folky threesome!

We could start a band. I'll play harmonica.

hahaha. I'll play fiddle. Not that I know how, but still.

And our band should have a dirty name, like Folk Me Harder or just like MENAGE or something. bwahahahahaha.

Wow, according to the dictionary menage by itself just means "a social unit living together"...how perfect. Clearly Menage should be our band name and our first album should be Folk Me Harder. And of course with a name like that we'd need at least one heavy metal folk song.

I'm going to start refering to my household as a "menage a slack".

folkyboy is going to have to play the acoustic guitar because we can't have a folk band without one.

*looking forward to learning those sweet three part mountain harmonies*

Menage A Slack?

(Link)
Dude, thats too appropriate. As such, some members of the house will object, because it is a) too confining and b) doesn't allow us to change our minds at random as to how we want to 'organize' our living quarters.

Also, you should listen to Dirty Three, because they are good. The fiddle/guitar reminded me of them.

As an additional aside (bonus gift if you call now!) I could see violin, harmonica, and percussion working out well. Guitar schmitar, thats what I say.

I don't trust a man who doesn't believe in "notes" to eliminate guitar from my folk band! ;)

(but secretly, I know you are correct)

There is nothing to click on on the dirty three website. Just a logo. No content. What's the deal?

In French it might be "menage de mou."

Along the lines of suggestions, be sure to check out the Tarbox Ramblers show at Cowboy Monkey on Valentine's Day. I suppose they could be best described as an electrified hillbilly blues band; they're from Boston and on Rounder Records. You may have heard (or even played) them at WEFT. I know I did (both). Not acoustic, but they have the spirit, in a dark and dirty way.

I believe in notes. Don't fall prey to Pitzl's dirty lies. I just can't make my fingers play them on a keyboard as well as I would like. I also believe that the note is not the be-all-end-all of musical creation. So there.

Regarding Dirty Three... it looks like maybe they decided to "close shop" for a while, as the site doesn't look like it's been updated in a while. Just go here to peruse behind the link-less index page.

You can also find some mp3s on Epitonic.
