V-Day Exploits - The Life and Thoughts of Zach

Last night Heather and I went to Basmati and had a fantastic meal (with amazingly fast service given how crowded it was and that we didn't have a reservation). In the lobby we ran into a couple of friends out on a date...after some small talk with the girl who we both think is cool and were glad to see there was this really uncomfortable moment when the guy (who neither me nor my date really like much) asked if we should get a table for 4. Luckily before the uncomfortable hemming and hawing lasted too long the girl he was with nudged him and told him that since we were on a date we probably wanted to be alone.

Then we had a little adventure in the car.

Then we went and saw Evil Beaver and FeeD play at Mike and Molly's. That was a FANTASTIC show. I'd heard people rave about Evil Beaver (two chicks from chicago, drums and bass, playing heavy metal ("cock rock") influenced punk) but I'd never been to a show. Totally worth it! And the show was only three bucks...I think the bands were completely robbed. I'd have paid ten bucks for that show. FeeD is local, I'd never seen them before but I hope to see them often again. Their rock was solid. The rhythms the drummer played were both tight and insane, the keyboardist added some excellent atmosphere and fullness to the sound without compromising the punk asthetic, and bass was driving, the guitar was fierce, and the lyrics were cool. And -- there were some excessively hot people in that band (the lead singer chick and the drummer guy...zounds).

And then we came home and crashed out, exhausted from food, adventure, and maniacal punk-thrash-jig dancing.

This morning after braving the death snow for a 2 hour union organizing training session, I finally got Heather to start down the dark path of Buffy. We watched the first 2 episodes of Season 1 and she loved them.

AHHH HAAA!

just a dream journal, huh? i knew it wouldn't be too long before you were making little "i did this the other day" posts in here. face it man, soon enough, part of your before-bed routine is going to be taking an inventory of your day to see if you need to post. or feeling bad if you only posted once or twice in a week. it's a disease, man. the only way i have been able to control the addiction is that i have a really boring life.

dead by dawn!

I've known all along that I'd catch the disease. I still haven't sucumbed as far as you think. All the non-dream journal stuff that I've posted so far has been stuff that I wrote for a IMSA notesfile first and then posted to LJ as an afterthought.

This particular thing I thought should go to LJ because I want all my Chicago friends to go see Evil Beaver when they get a chance and most of my Chicago friends read my journal.

But yah. I now have a link to my LJ Friends page on my Browser Start Page and I have <ahref="http://www.livejournal.com/download/">LJ clients</a> installed on my linux and windows boxes. And I'm crazy addicted to the buffyphilosophy and angelphilosophy communities.

I've become convinced that LJ is a major realization of one of the kinds of collaborative network communication structures that are only available with the advent of the World Wide Web.

I hate that you (seemingly) can't edit comments. I just posted that and then had to delete it and repost it because I got some links wrong and didn't preview. LAME!

I'm pretty sure it's because it mails the relevant parties when you post a comment. Going back and editing a comment would then either repudiate the mail, or require a second mail, or something.

(hi zach, remember me, i broke a shotglass on your kitchen floor and then cleaned it up in my bare feet)

YOU GREW A BEARD!

That's okay; I got married, so what the hell. Do you remember me? We were on the WEFT Associate's Executive Committee together before I moved to this godforsaken place!

of course

Of course I remember you!

I'm beared seasonally nowadays. The beard has come and gone several times since that picture. I have it now but am shaving it off tonight to mark the equinox. :)

I finally quit the AEC over a year ago. I actually don't even have a WEFT show anymore. I've been spending all my time at the Indymedia Center (were you in town when that was created or were you already gone?) The IMC is pretty much the kickinest thing that ever happened to CU.

The AEC is still going strong. The bylaws and SOP finally got finished and approved and the meetings are quite smooth running under the new administration.

Congrats on your marriage. You should move back to CU where it is not godforsaken. :)

Yeah, the IMC was up when I lived there. :) But I spent more time at WEFT and Heaven & Earth (which no longer exists).

Recognize the weirdo I'm married to in that photo? That's why I'm stuck here. He's going to school at the College of Charleston. We're here till he finishes (this is so his father doesn't have a stroke). ;)

Old home week on Live Journal!
