It is really surreal seeing 6 inches of water in your basement. Dealing with a flooded basement is like another rite of passage into adulthood.

No one prepares you for this. Figuring out what you have to do is something you just have to have a social network of wise elders to tap into for.

I hope the water I'm pumping out isn't flooding my neighbor's basement.

Oh, the yarns and soggy tales I could spin about flooded basements.
But I won't.
Because I totally know how it feels, and my heart and galoshes go out to you.

My house doesn't even have a basement. But, alas, I do remember back east. I lost about 7 working vintage cameras of my grandfather's to a flooded basement. (they were even up on a shelf!) It sucked.
