We were at the Dave "Honeyboy" Edwards show last night, so we were wondering where you might be.

Kinda, almost! It would be fun to take a roadtrip out west, but there's some hints that I'll be starting up work again sometime next week.

Also, I'd have to be drunk the whole time, to make up for being only sometimes drunk and having a cold last time.

I've never met a start date that couldn't be pushed back by a week.

Also, we can get you drunk.

Note that tickets for the Vegas show are sold out so if William comes there won't be a ticket for you UNLESS they open up ticket sales for another show, we find one online somehow before then, OR we buy a scalped one at the door (all possible, also possible William will drop out). But ya know, the road trip will be fun regardless. :)

You should totally come.

I may. Work on me. I don't like the idea of missing a band practice, though!

Someone would also be upset at me for being gone for so long.

It won't be THAT long! I was just thinking that even though it's a longer route, the best thing to do would be to swing down from UP on Tuesday and pickup ke_jia in Chicago and then swing down here from there so that he can be signed up as a second driver on the car. Then we leave for Vegas from here. So you wouldn't have to leave until Tuesday eveningish.

It'll take me 7 hours to get from Ontonagon to Chicago, then another 2.5 to get to Champaign. So let's say we leave Champaign around 9pm. And then it's 27 hours from Champaign to Las Vegas. We could actually leave Wednesday morning EARLY (6am?) and drive for about 15 hours hours, get a hotel room and real sleep on Wednesday night, and then drive 12 hours to Vegas, getting there with a few hours to wait in line for the movie. We'd sleep in Vegas that night and then be home by Friday or Saturday.

I bet your bandmates and "someone" would understand the call of Extreme Adventure and an absense of 4 days.

Emma doesn't understand Extreme anything.

I'd hesitate to skip band practice the week before our possibly last or second-to-last show. I'd kinda like to finish a new song...

Just think of it this way, if the upcoming show is your second-to-last then you'll have at least one more practice after this practice. If it is your last then you won't. If you think you can finish a new song before your LAST show then if it turns out to be your second to last show it means you can easily finish the song at next week's practice.

So um basically you get a free week if you ASSUME first that this is your last show and second that this is your second to last show. So you should do that and come with us. :)

Is availability of a movie ticket a concern for you or would you be mainly in it for the trip?

I'd mainly be in it for the trip. I haven't visited some of the states between here and Las Vegas. But right now it doesn't seem like it'll work out for me this time.

Party at your house that weekend (9/30), right? We should watch the movie, then watch the series, then watch the movie again. :)

If we get the same crowd as last time we could watch the directors commentaries this time instead of the regular audio. :)

Hmmm...I've never even seen Firefly, but your enthusiasm seems contagious. I'll have to go rent the series now.

It's the best (and most heartbreaking when it ends in the damned middle) 13 hours you can spend.

If you haven't seen it by the next time you visit, you're welcome to borrow my DVDs.

(Honestly, Universal is marketting this thing brilliantly. It's the ultimate guerilla marketting campaign. Stuff like this May 5th screening is all a ploy to get us megafans to post all excitedly to our blogs about it which creates buzz. And all the people who see it for the first time on May 5th will become a new legion of people to spread the buzz before September 30. They even have a points system for random fans who promote the movie to get free swag (which in turn FURTHER increases the buzz). Then there's the deeper level of guerilla marketting where random people are taking it upon themselves, without Universal's help, to make posters and stuff for the movie and post them all over the place. I'd be aghast at it if it weren't for the fact that I TOTALLY want this movie to kick so much ass that someone ends up asking Joss if he'd ever consider making a TV series based on it. :) This is marketting that I can really get behind.)
