I think that's the same storm that hit us last night/early morning. Whatever it is it wasn't pleasant.

Over here it was quite pleasant. First storm of the year warm enough to play in.

That is one hell of a squall line.

Last time I looked at the radar for the whole country, it went all the way up to the top of Lake Michigan, with trailing streamers as far south as St. Louis, MO and the northernmost part of the state of Alabama.

As you say, one hell of a squall line. Including hail, tornado warnings, and a lot of thunderstorms.

And look at that temperature differential! 70 deg in Evansville, 48 in Des Moines. Was the drop in temperature very sharp when the front came through? Man, I think that's one of the coolest things about a big storm.

I didn't realize how much I missed big storms until now. I'm going to be playing with weatherunderground.com for quite a while now.

Well it FEELS much colder now that it has passed but that could be because I'm soaking in it.

It's dropped about 15 degrees here in Naperville.

Well we got the absolute least of it. Maybe 60-120 seconds of really hard rain and heavy wind and a little thunder and lightening. Lots of drizzle leading up to it and now it's all over.

Which is to say:

I have no doubt that will go through my mind every time I see "Effingham" on a road sign from now on.

And "Fucking ham! God damnit" might just become my new expletive of choice.
