Corkscrew After Dark - Taper's Tour!

Come bring your recorders and make your own bootleg!

Corkscrew Wine Emporium
203 N Vine St
Champaign, IL 61802
Price: Free
When Sam played with Melissa Ferrick last spring was the first time I'd heard her. After hearing so much good stuff about her I wasn't let down. I bought all her CDs. An interesting feature of this tour is that she hasn't released a new CD in a few years and she's got a TON of new songs. So she's encouraging tapers to make their own "new" album by taping her shows. :)

I'm so happy to have the chance to help spread the word about a local folk show that I didn't book! I'm so happy that Joni Laurence has started booking great local folk shows and that the Corkscrew Wine Emporium has stepped up to offer a smoke free venue for folk shows and that this show is going to be FREE! It's like my dream come true and I didn't even have to do the work on this one.

I'm listening to an interview with Sam Shaber on WEFT's We're Only In it for the Music right now and Dave is playing a great interview with Sam Shaber where she talks about each of her songs and then he plays the song. I'm very inspired and I'm so looking forward to going to this show!

And the cool thing I only just realized tonight is that from 2pm-6pm, before the 8pm show there's a WEFT benefit wine tasting at the Corkscrew. $5 for samples of wine AND chocolate from around the world and ALL the money goes to WEFT.
Chocolate & Wine Tasting!
Saturday February 12, 2-6pm
Corkscrew Wine Emporium
We are having a chocolate and wine tasting fund raiser, featuring wines from small, independent producers from around the world. Admission is $5 for the tasting and $5 a glass after that. All proceeds will go toward the Clear the Air fund.
Who else wants get boozed up on exotic wine and hear some great folk music with me tomorrow evening?

I really wanted to go to that show, but alas, the Grove beckoned.
I wasn't sure if you were going since you were planning to go see your folks.
How was it?

It was awesome. There were over 40 people there. Standing room only. And Joni and I were mystified about where they all came from. They were people who I didn't recognize from my shows, she didn't recognize from her shows, the Corkscrew owners didn't recognize from THEIR shows, they were all too old to be LJers, I didn't see them at the Highdive Show. We have no idea how they found out about the show or why this show in this place drew so many folkies. I think it was the promise of copious wine in a non-bar setting. Corkscrew is a great place for small folk shows.

I went home on Sunday. I'll be here most of the week.

Cool. I've never been to the Corkscrew but it sounds like anice place.

I'll be leaving Friday morning to go see my folks this weekend so depending on when you get back I may or may not see ya.

Hope you're having a good time!
