So seriously, people, are you sending your money? Because $110,000 is a lot and they need it fast by November 15th. So far $48,635 has been raised in just one day. There are 3 days left. I want to hear some noise, some pledges. This is not a time to be silent and passive and let some other folks take care of your democracy for you.

I have sent $50. I can not afford this contribution. I have many bills past due. But finding out BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE whether the Ohio vote was counted correctly or not seems to me to be the most important thing.

Can I afford the thirty-bucks I just gave?

No.

Can our country afford me NOT giving those thirty bucks?

No.

Agreed. I just gave $50 and can't really afford it, either, but this is important.

So what you're saying is that I should spend money to oust one useless politician and replace him with yet another, arguably-less-useless politician? That's almost as bad as voting in general - shouldn't do anything to encourage the politicians, otherwise they breed and we remain stuck with them and the sickness that they perpetuate.

Hey, I'm just asking folks who care about Democracy to send money. Folks who honestly don't give a shit who wins or loses when people vote should not bother giving money. I'm not asking you to give money.

I don't like Kerry or Bush. I do like Cobb. Someday I want to be sure that someone like Cobb will be able to win if a majority of people vote for him. If votes are allowed to not be counted now then they certainly won't be counted in 20 years when a Green might have a chance of winning the presidency.

The graphic has always said $150,000. They needed $110k for the filing fee but they realized that they'll have extra legal and personell expenses to see the challenge through so they upped the fundraising goal to $150k very shortly after they declared the campaign. It's explained on the website if you read it.

I'm quite excited that they are already up to $121k which means this will definitely happen. Now it's just a matter of raising enough money to make it happen _well_.
